the people
Diana and I became inseparable while working together at South Dakota Mines. Not only did we spend every day together at work, but we somehow still found more reasons to hang out at weekly trivia and created a weekend brunch tradition, with Travis as our willing third wheel. Diana is incredibly supportive and has a way of making everyone around her feel seen, valued, and cared for—I can’t imagine this day without her standing next to me.

I think Lucas hates this photo, but it’s a relic from a night that we will never forget (and tell the story to this day). Lucas is the best, best man someone could ask for - he’s loyal, he’s kind, he’s respectful. The world has taken us both to many different places, but it has never broken the bond we’ve had for over 20+ years. And since I was a child - I always knew that Lucas would stand next to me on this exact day. Lucas is family, but the kind of family that has really important jobs that you can’t talk about.

Sara is my glamorous older sister, and I’ve always admired her confidence, beauty, and ability to make everything look effortless. One of my favorite childhood memories is from spring break when she was channeling her inner supermodel with dramatic poses and a faraway gaze for the camera. Naturally, I snuck into the background to ruin the photos. Years later, we recreated the moment, proving that some things never change.

Parker is the glue. He has kept important friends together for years and has stuck by my side as we both transitioned through life. He’s the perfect example of someone who sticks to their core values, all while evolving as a man. It’s been a privilege to watch his journey from a goofy, awkward kid - into an elite athlete - into a talented professional - into the best husband and father. Parker sets a beautiful example of integrity and kindness. And he’s also insane. Parker has been as much part of my family as I have been his (I even lived with his mother for a time).

Hannah is my younger sister and closest confidant. From high school swim practices to surviving engineering school together, we’ve spent a lot of life side by side. She is unapologetically herself, so when I need a reminder to stand up for myself or honest advice, she is the person I call. She is also the only person who is a bigger hot dog fan than Travis.

Jaden’s friendship helps open up so many perspectives and doors. He is genuine and true to self - something we can all learn from. I admire his intelligence and passion and in doing so, I’ve learned so much about loyalty, my career in tech, music, sport, culture and more.
Fun fact: for a majority of our lives, Jaden and I have lived 2 blocks or less away from each other (and grateful for him letting me crash on his couch well into my 30s).

Kelsey became my ride-or-die almost immediately after we met through mutual friends while ice fishing. Inspired by my sister’s shenanigans, I took it upon myself to create an unofficial screening process for her suitors. When I met Travis, Kelsey was more than happy to return the favor by directing him with a whistle to dust a TV in a dive bar and inspecting his work with a white glove. Kelsey is fiercely loyal, endlessly dependable, and exactly the person you want in your corner.

Beau is one of one. You meet someone like this only but a few times in your life. His DNA results came back as 50% sunshine, 20% kindness, 20% hotdogs and 10% laughter.
Beau makes everyone feel important and welcome; something I’ve needed at many points in my life. He always answers the call, he always includes everyone, he is always there.
And while we have no idea who the guy in the middle of the photo is… I’m grateful that I still have his contact info saved as “New York” in my iPhone, just in case…
